This Privacy Policy explains how Ascend Fitness collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile application, beta program, and related services.
1. Information We Collect
Ascend Fitness may collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, phone number if provided, account credentials, profile photo, profile details, fitness goals, body metrics, nutrition logs, saved meals, recipes, workout logs, activity routes, progress photos, AI prompts, AI-generated drafts, support messages, beta waitlist submissions, surveys, and feedback.
If you connect Apple Health, Oura, or other supported connected apps, Ascend Fitness may collect the health and fitness data you authorize, such as steps, active energy, sleep, readiness, activity scores, workout/activity summaries, estimated calorie burn, and related daily history. Apple Health authorization is controlled through iOS Health settings, and third-party wearable authorization is controlled through that provider.
We may collect location data when you use activity tracking features, including route, distance, pace, elevation, and related workout details. If you start an outdoor activity and grant Always location access, Ascend Fitness may continue collecting location data while that activity is in progress when your phone is locked or the app is in the background.
We may also collect technical and usage information such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate location based on IP, identifiers used by Firebase or Apple, crash/error information, and events about how you interact with the app and website.
Ascend Fitness stores some information locally on your device, including cached profile, nutrition, workout, progress, health summary, and pending offline changes, so the app can load faster and continue working when your connection is limited.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to provide, operate, improve, and secure Ascend Fitness; create and maintain your account; personalize training, nutrition, progress, wearable, and AI experiences; sync data across devices; support offline use; process subscriptions; respond to questions; analyze product performance; and develop new features.
AI features may use your prompt and relevant Ascend Fitness data, such as profile, workouts, nutrition, health summaries, wearable data, and progress trends, to generate advice, workout templates, recipes, meal estimates, and other app actions. AI-generated content is informational and should be reviewed before you rely on it. The app includes Health & Fitness Sources with citations for general training, nutrition, recovery, and safety guidance.
If you join the beta waitlist or participate in beta testing, we may use the information you submit to contact you about beta access, TestFlight instructions, product updates, surveys, and feedback opportunities.
3. Service Providers and Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the app and website, including Firebase/Google for authentication, database, storage, analytics, and cloud functions; OpenAI for AI responses; Resend for email delivery; Apple for App Store subscriptions and HealthKit permissions; Oura for connected wearable data when authorized; and other infrastructure, customer support, security, and communications providers.
We do not use Apple Health data, Oura health data, or other wearable health data for advertising or sell it to advertisers. We do not share HealthKit data with third parties except as needed to provide user-requested app functionality, with your authorization, or as required by law.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the public, to enforce our terms, to investigate fraud or security issues, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
4. Subscriptions and Payments
Ascend Fitness uses Apple App Store subscriptions for premium features. Apple processes payment information, receipts, refunds, cancellations, and subscription management. Ascend Fitness receives subscription status, product identifiers, transaction identifiers, renewal status, and related App Store subscription data needed to unlock and manage premium access.
5. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain business and legal records, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, secure the service, and support account recovery. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and the purpose for which it was collected.
If you delete or request deletion of your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information where required, subject to legal, security, fraud prevention, backup, and operational retention needs.
6. Your Choices
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of certain personal information by contacting us. You can also initiate account deletion in the app from Profile > Account > Delete Account. You may opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in those emails.
You can disconnect Apple Health or change HealthKit permissions in iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices. You can disconnect Oura or other connected apps through Ascend Fitness or the provider’s authorization settings. You can delete progress photos, logs, saved meals, and other user-created content where the app provides that option.
Please note that some information may be retained as required for legal, security, fraud prevention, or operational reasons.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
Ascend Fitness is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us so we can review and delete it if appropriate.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the website, app, or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of Ascend Fitness after an update becomes effective means the updated policy will apply.
